IIDEA Limited have taken delivery of a brand-new DOOSAN Mynx 7500/50 the first of two new machines due at IIDEA this month. The new machine arrived on the 10th of May, this one being the DOOSAN Mynx 7500/50 Vertical Machining Centre. This is a true beast of a machine, bigger than anything else we have to date and weighs in at over 14 tonnes!
This is a vertical, high-durability, high-performance machining centre which will enable high-speed, precision machining of some large components and the machining of difficult materials such as high-strength steels and nickel and titanium alloys which will benefit from a rigid set-up and optimum cutting speeds and feeds.
The machine benefits from box guide ways which means even greater rigidity and accuracy during all machining operations but this is even more the case with hard to machine materials which tend to push away from the cutter during machining. The extra stiffness in the machine chassis means there is no perceptible deflection during machining operations allowing for greater accuracy of finished parts and less chance for tool chatter causing surface imperfections. Although we are confident to operate the machine at a basic level as it is similar in operation to our existing machine, we will wait until we have completed the training program which will commence shortly before we really get stuck in!
